A 17-year-old suspect voluntarily surrendered to Battle Creek police on April 23 following interviews with investigators, days after a shooting left two teenagers injured in the area of North McKinley Avenue and NE Capitol Avenue.

The shooting occurred on the morning of April 19 around 4:30 a.m. in the area of North McKinley Avenue and NE Capitol Avenue. A 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male were the victims of the incident. Both went to a local hospital and are listed in stable condition.

The teen turned himself in alongside his mother on Thursday, April 23, according to a news release from the Battle Creek Police Department. The juvenile was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home.

He faces four counts of attempted murder and felony firearm charges. Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert told News Channel 3 that the teen is being charged as an adult.
