A 23-year-old Kalamazoo man is in stable condition after being shot several times in an incident outside a business on North Westnedge Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to North Westnedge Avenue near Ada Street before 2:45 p.m. to reports of a shooting. At nearly the same time, an adult male victim arrived at a public safety station seeking medical help after sustaining gunshot wounds.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported for medical treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Assisting agencies, including K9 units, responded to the scene to conduct a track and search for evidence. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses and are following up on several strong leads.
The shooter is not yet in custody. The investigation remains ongoing.

This is the second shooting in Kalamazoo on Sunday. Earlier in the evening around 5:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was charged with six felonies after shooting two people at a Girl Scouts facility during a baby shower. That suspect was found hiding in a closet and surrendered to police without incident.
The Westnedge Avenue shooting occurred in the 700 block of North Westnedge Avenue. The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was stable at the hospital. The suspect remains at large.
KDPS officers are actively searching for the shooter. The investigation continues.
