*BATTLE CREEK, Mich.* — A man who may have experienced a medical emergency while driving Thursday afternoon has died after his vehicle crashed into a tree on M-37 in Battle Creek, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

The 42-year-old man from Bedford Township was traveling north on M-37 near Marvin Street shortly before 4 p.m. when witnesses reported seeing him slump toward the passenger side of the vehicle, the department said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, and investigators found no evidence of braking before the vehicle left the roadway and struck the tree.

Therefore, the department believes the crash was caused by a medical emergency.
