# Driver in Custody After Hit-and-Run Crash Injures Bicyclist in Galesburg
GALESBURG, Mich. — A driver is in custody after a hit-and-run crash injured a bicyclist on West Michigan Avenue in Galesburg Tuesday night.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, a female bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on West Michigan Avenue. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is currently recovering.
Witnesses at the scene provided police with the vehicle's license plate number after the driver fled the scene. Officers subsequently located the car in Kalamazoo and arrested a person of interest, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators believe that excessive speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
Deputies are asking anyone with camera footage of the incident, including dashcam or security camera recordings, to contact the sheriff's office to assist with the investigation.
