A 29-year-old man was killed after being shot Friday afternoon near Davis Street Park in Kalamazoo's Vine Neighborhood, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
The shooting happened around 3 p.m. on the corner of Davis Street and Grant Street, near Davis Street Park. KDPS detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Police have not released any information about the suspect at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the KDPS Criminal Investigations Division at 269-337-8139.

Residents are asked to avoid the area near Davis Street Park as police continue their investigation.
"It was horrible," said a witness who was near the scene.
KDPS officers responded to the call and secured the area. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This is the latest violent crime in Kalamazoo's Vine Neighborhood, an area that has seen increased police activity in recent months.
