PLAINWELL, MI. A motorcyclist died after a collision with a sport utility vehicle in downtown Plainwell on Tuesday afternoon, and investigators are now asking members of the public to step forward with any information that could help determine what happened.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the intersection of Bridge Street, also known as M-89, and Main Street, according to the Plainwell Department of Public Safety. Police and emergency crews responded to the scene and began providing medical care at the intersection.
The motorcyclist was transported to Beacon Health Kalamazoo for treatment, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Plainwell Department of Public Safety. There was no immediate word on whether anyone in the SUV was injured.
The crash shut down the downtown intersection for approximately two hours while first responders worked the scene.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, saying investigators are working to notify family members. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
