An 18-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed in the early morning hours of Tuesday in Oshtemo Township. Deputies arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 6700 block of Andover Drive near Stadium Drive around 3:34 a.m. According to a release from the sheriff's office, deputies found the teenage victim with a stab wound. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigators quickly identified a 30-year-old man at the scene as a person of interest and took him into custody, the sheriff's office said.

The stabbing occurred near Pinehurst Town Homes, a residential development in Oshtemo Township. No charges have been publicly filed against the arrested suspect.

The sheriff's office has not released the names of either the victim or the suspect. The investigation remains active.

A second crime in Oshtemo the same night

The stabbing was not the only violent incident in Oshtemo Township Tuesday morning. Deputies also responded to an attempted armed robbery at a Speedway gas station at 6150 Stadium Drive near S. 9th Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

According to FOX 17, a suspect displayed a pistol and demanded money from someone at the station before fleeing on foot. No one was injured and no money was taken. Deputies searched the area with K-9 units and drones but did not locate the suspect.

The sheriff's office said it may release photos and a suspect description for the robbery at a later time.
