A fatal crash on a busy Oshtemo corridor
A 38-year-old man died Saturday morning after being struck by a car at one of Oshtemo Township's busiest intersections, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the crash around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of W Main Street and N Drake Road, multiple outlets reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died
The man was transported to a local hospital after the collision. He was later pronounced dead from his injuries, the Sheriff's Office said in a release.
Authorities have not identified the pedestrian. They also declined to name the driver who struck him, saying the investigation remains active.
"No names are being released as it is an active investigation," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
The driver stopped at the scene
Investigators say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies. The driver was identified by police, though that information has not been made public.
A portion of the intersection was closed for several hours while deputies processed the crash scene.
Multiple agencies responded
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Life EMS, and the Oshtemo Township Fire Department, according to the release.
