Otsego voters approved a new income tax to fund their local schools. Unofficial poll results showed the measure passed by a 235-vote margin.
The Otsego Local Schools income tax received 1,135 votes in favor and 900 votes against. This represents 55.77 percent support and 44.23 percent opposition. The new tax will be 0.25 percent of income.
Three additional renewal levies also passed at the polls today. Voters approved the Lake Township road district levy renewal and the Northwest Wood Ambulance District renewal. The Wood County Board of Elections will meet on May 19 at 8:30 a.m. to certify the election results.
The meeting will be held in the board's conference room on the first floor of the county office building. Officials will rule on provisional ballots and finalize the official vote counts for all measures.
