RICHLAND, Mich. — A farm worker is dead after his head got caught between a truck's tailgate and bed Sunday, authorities said.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) said a 34-year-old farm equipment operator died Sunday when his head got caught between the tailgate and bed of a silage truck as he performed preventative maintenance work on it.

MIOSHA did not initially release any other details about the incident and said its investigation is ongoing.

The death is the 38th workplace fatality recorded to MIOSHA in 2026.

The agency's investigation is expected to determine how the accident occurred and whether safety rules were followed on the job.
