Crawford County Voters Approve Township Renewals as Wynford School Levy Falls Short
BUCYRUS, OH — Voters across Crawford County approved multiple township renewals on Tuesday, with Texas Township securing its renewal in the ballot. The results also finalized GOP Central Committee seats and saw the Wynford School District narrowly reject a school levy bid.
Larry Schmidt represents Holmes-Texas Township in the county, according to the election results. Texas Township voters along with residents from other townships in Crawford County participated in the May 5, 2026 special election.
The Wynford School District levy saw 576 votes in favor and 680 votes against, with the measure failing to reach the required threshold for approval. Jefferson Township, Liberty Township for EMS and Fire services, and Polk Township Fire all successfully renewed their levies.
Several elected offices went unopposed in the election, including Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold, Matthew Crall for Probate and Family Court Judge, County Commissioner Tim Ley, and County Auditor Robyn Sheets.
Greg White was the only candidate to succeed in his bid for a seat on the Republican Central Committee in Precinct 3C, where he ran unopposed. Multiple incumbents including Mayor Bruce Truka, Eric Griebling, Carol Miller, Joyce Schifer, Ricky McWaters, and Paul Moser were reelected across various precincts.
Two local businesses in Galion's precinct 1A and three establishments in Galion's 4A precinct will be permitted to offer Sunday Liquor Sales following the election.
All election results remain pending certification by the Crawford County Board of Elections, according to Crawford County Now.
